Burning Witch

Burning Witch was a doom metal band from Seattle, WA, formed in 1995 by Stephen O'Malley (guitar), Greg Anderson (guitar), Edgy 59 (vocals), Jamie Sykes (drums) and G. Stuart Dahlquist (bass). The band recorded their first EP, "Towers..." in 1996, which was later released in 1998. They released another EP called "Rift.Canyon.Dreams" the same year with B.R.A.D. replacing Sykes on drums. After Edgy 59 left to join another group, Burning Witch split up.

Following the split, Anderson and O'Malley went on to form Sunn O))), Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine, and Pentemple. Dahlquist appeared on recordings by Sunn O))) and Goatsnake and also formed Asva with B.R.A.D.

In 1998, Greg Anderson's Southern Lord Records released the compilation CD "Crippled Lucifer," which included both of Burning Witch's EPs along with extra tracks. An expanded version of this compilation was issued in 2008.
