Dear Reader

Dear Reader is an indie pop band originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. Founded in 2008 by singer-songwriter Cherilyn MacNeil and producer/bass player Darryl Torr, the band has since evolved into a solo project led by Cherilyn MacNeil and is currently based in Berlin, Germany.

The music of Dear Reader is characterized by Cherilyn's captivating vocals accompanied by her skillful piano and guitar playing. Previous members of the band included Darryl Torr on bass, keys, loop station, and vocals, as well as Michael Wright on drums and vocals.

Inspired by their South African roots and influenced by various genres such as indie pop and folk, Dear Reader creates heartfelt and introspective music that resonates with listeners. Their sound can be compared to artists like Talking To Turtles, Kat Frankie, Get Well Soon, Sophie Hunger, BOY among others.
