Merle Haggard

Merle Haggard was an influential American country music singer, guitarist, fiddler, and songwriter. Born on April 6, 1937 in Bakersfield, CA, he left a lasting impact on the genre until his death on April 6, 2016 in Palo Cedro, CA - coincidentally his 79th birthday. Throughout his career, Haggard married multiple times including Leona Williams from 1978 to 1983 and Theresa Lane Haggard from 1993 until his passing.

Haggard's talent extended beyond just singing as he also played guitar and fiddle. His unique style blended traditional country with honky-tonk and outlaw influences. He released numerous studio albums throughout his career which were recorded at Talley Studios.

Often compared to legendary artists such as George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and Loretta Lynn among others; Merle Haggard's music continues to resonate with fans of classic country today.
