Aerosmith is an American rock band known as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". They have a style rooted in blues-based hard rock, incorporating elements of pop rock, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues. Formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970 by guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, vocalist Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano. In 1971, Brad Whitford replaced Tabano and the band began gaining popularity in Boston.
