Bloodshot Records is an independent record label based in Chicago, Illinois. Since its founding in 1993 by Nan Warshaw, Rob Miller, and Eric Babcock, the label has been a pioneer in roots-infused indie rock, punk rock, and alternative country music.

Over the years, Bloodshot Records has gained recognition for its diverse roster of talented artists and their unique sound. The label saw some changes with Babcock's departure in 1997 and Warshaw's exit in 2019. However, it continued to thrive until briefly closing its doors in 2021.

Fortunately, on October 23rd, 2021, Bloodshot Records was acquired by a new owner and made a triumphant return to the music scene. After lying dormant for some time, the label announced exciting plans for upcoming releases. One such release is from *Layng Martine Jr.*, set to debut in May 2023.

Andre Williams (November 1, 1936 - March 17th, 2019) was an American R&B musician who started his career in the 1950s at Fortune Records in Detroit. Known as "Mr. Rhythm," he recorded over 200 songs and co-authored the R&B hit "Shake a Tail Feather." With famous hits like "Jail Bait," "Greasy Chicken," and "Bacon Fat," Williams became a renowned producer and songwriter for bands like *The Dirtbombs* and *Compulsive Gamblers*. Despite facing personal struggles in the 1980s, he made a comeback in the late 1990s with albums such as "Greasy" and "The Black Godfather."

Williams' unique style and risqué lyrics set him apart from other musicians of his time. He collaborated with talented performers including *Billy Childish* and *Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds*, composing memorable tunes like "Cadillac Jack" and "Funky Judge." His music resonated with audiences who appreciated his raw energy.

Inspired by artists like *Heavy Trash* and *The Gories*, Andre Williams left an indelible mark on the music industry. His influence can be heard in bands such as *Thee Headcoats* and *Reigning Sound*. With a discography that spans decades, Williams will always be remembered as a true pioneer of rhythm and blues

he's a chameleon, a survivor and a hustler. he's the fox and the hound. for 'that's all i need', andre went back home to detroit to cut a record of psychedelic soul and growling 4am slow jams with a solid rock and roll backbone. it's a stone cold look back to a time when that city was messing around where the waters of rock and funk met, acid trips and stroh's benders going hand in hand. helping andre out with the cause is a slinky lineup of detroit's best genre-bending players, including members of the dirtbombs, the witches, the sights, electric six, as well as producer / guitarist / arranger matthew smith (nathaniel mayer, outrageous cherry, volebeats). lending a hand for several tracks is legendary guitarist dennis coffey, member of the motown house band the funk brothers, and contributor to nearly every detroit recording session from the mid-50s through the late-70s. he even had a million selling instrumental with 'scorpio' in 1971.
