Rough Trade is a multinational label that was started by Geoff Travis in 1976 as a London record-shop. It quickly grew into an independent label and distributor, collaborating with notable labels such as 4AD, Factory Records, and One Little Indian. The label's catalogue numbering system for singles/EPs included prefixes like RT### and RTT###CD for different formats. Albums were numbered sequentially as ROUGH### with extensions for different formats.In the early 1990s, Rough Trade faced financial difficulties after expanding into the US market. The US branch was shut down and the German branch ended up in the Zomba Music Group. One Little Indian provided financing and took over the label in the UK, retaining ownership of key releases like A.R. Kane albums. Geoff Travis eventually regained control of Rough Trade around 1999–2000 and re-launched it alongside Tugboat Records.

Belle & Sebastian is an indie pop band that formed in Glasgow, Scotland in January 1996. The band is named after Belle Et Sébastien, a French novel about a boy (Sébastien) and his Pyrénées mountain dog (Belle). The novel became famous and a popular children's television series in France in the late 1960s, and then internationally in the early 1970s.
In October 2014 the band reissued all 11 of their releases, up to that point, under the series heading "The Jeepster Singles Collection", taken from the song with the same name that appeared on their album "Push Barman To Open Old Wounds".

'Dear Catastrophe Waitress' is the Trevor Horn produced sixth studio album from 2003. Chief songwriter Stuart Murdoch had clearly been listening to a lot of Randy Newman and Joe Jackson, along with a touch of Thin Lizzy, and Horn manages to meld these new influences with the trademark Belle and Sebastian sound. 'Step into My Office Baby' is orchestral pop with a cheeky, almost raucous bent. 'If She Wants Me' pulls off a flirtation with Orange Juice-style funk, while 'Stay Loose' could be Squeeze covering 'Space Oddity'. On the more traditional Belle and Sebastian songs (the title track, 'Wrapped Up in Books', live favourite 'Lord Anthony'), the ante is upped simply by the quality of songwriting, which is a match for anything from the 'Tigermilk' glory days.LP - Double LP.
