Noise Records is a German record company and label that specialized in thrash and melodic speed metal. It was founded in 1983 by Karl-Ulrich Walterbach as an expansion of his company, Modern Music Records. Throughout its active years between 1983 and 2007, Noise Records released music under different names such as Modern Music, Under One Flag, and Sanctuary.

In 2001, the label was sold to Sanctuary Records Group but unfortunately ceased all activity in 2007 due to Sanctuary's bankruptcy. However, in October of the same year, the entire Noise catalogue including the label itself was acquired by Universal Music Group.

Then in February 2013, BMG Rights Management signed an agreement to purchase the Noise catalog from Universal. As a result, Noise Records was relaunched with a different label code (LC 23251) in 2016 under BMG's ownership.

Celtic Frost was formed in 1984 in Birchwil, Zurich, Switzerland by Tom G. Warrior and Martin Eric Ain. The band's sound evolved from proto-black metal to incorporating classical influences and avant-garde elements. Despite facing criticism for their album "Cold Lake", Celtic Frost continued to push boundaries with their music. After disbanding in 1992, the band resurrected in 2006 with a new lineup and released "Monotheist". However, Thomas G. Fischer announced his departure from the band in 2008, leading to the definite end of Celtic Frost.

Throughout their career, Celtic Frost had various members including Ron Marks, Oliver Amberg, Stephen Priestly, Reed St. Mark, Curt Victor Bryant, Erol Unala, Anders Odden among others. Their unique and ambitious style made them a prominent figure in the metal scene.

Despite their ups and downs over the years, Celtic Frost's influence on the genre remains undeniable. Their ability to constantly evolve and experiment with different musical styles set them apart from other bands of their time.

It almost seems churlish to regard Celtic Frost as one of the great extreme metal bands, because they were so much more than that. It’s better to hail them as among the finest extreme and experimental bands of the 1980s. Refusing ever to do what was expected or demanded, the band constantly changed musical direction, always brought in surprising influences, and kept people guessing as to where they might venture next. Their catalogue of albums is formidable and unmatched. Each is not only unique, but part of an entire tapestry that only now can be appreciated for being a remarkable part of music history. Despite, or maybe because of, constant turmoil on so many fronts, Celtic Frost achieved an artistic level few others would even have dared to dream of aspiring towards. They climbed high because they were never afraid to fall.
