Kill Rock Stars is an indie label co-founded by Tinúviel and Slim Moon in Olympia, Washington. Originally intended as an outlet for Slim Moon's spoken word records, the label quickly expanded into the vibrant music scene of the region. With a focus on promoting female artists, Kill Rock Stars gained recognition as one of the few U.S. indie labels with an all-female full-time staff after Slim Moon's departure in 2006.

Over the years, Kill Rock Stars has been home to legendary Riot Grrl/Indie/Punk Rock acts such as The Gossip, Unwound, Bikini Kill, Witchypoo, and Sleater-Kinney. Their catalog includes a diverse range of releases that have made a significant impact on alternative music.

Gossip is a punk/indie band that formed in 1999 in Searcy, Arkansas, USA. Consisting of Nathan (aka Brace Paine), Kathy, and Beth, their mission is to make people dance with their raw and urgent sound. They gained visibility in the gay and lesbian indie rock community through magazines like Out and The Advocate. With the addition of drummer Hannah Blilie, Gossip incorporated elements of dance-punk into their music for their 2005 album "Standing in the Way of Control".

Standing in the Way of Control, their third album, was recorded by Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) at Seattle's Bear Creek. From heartbreakers like "Coal to Diamonds" to the anthemic title track, released as a single with a Le Tigre remix, the band is unafraid to put it all out there and take their audience to new places. This is the sound of a band destroying and surpassing all expectations placed on them.
