Jethro Tull is a Grammy Award winning British rock group formed in 1967-1968. Their music is characterized by the unique vocal style and lead flute work of front man Ian Anderson. Initially playing blues rock with an experimental flavor, the band has incorporated elements of classical, folk, jazz, and art rock over the years.
With their distinctive sound and innovative approach to music, Jethro Tull has captivated audiences worldwide. Led by the talented Ian Anderson, their fusion of genres such as blues rock, classical, folk, jazz, and art rock sets them apart from other bands.
The band's journey began in the late 1960s and they quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and groundbreaking compositions. Their incorporation of unconventional instruments like the flute added a unique dimension to their sound.

Parlophone is an anglicization of the German [l=Parlophon] label, registered as a trademark in 1902 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of [b]Salon Kinematograph Co. GmbH[/b], later merged into [l=Carl Lindström A.-G.]. The first Parlophon records are pressed in 1910. 

By 1923, Parlophone proper appears in London administered by English Lindström branch known as [l311921],  Parlophon records were pressed in London and sold locally. By 1926 extended operations extended to press for export in Australia (#cat A) until the australian factory [l=Parlophone Co. Ltd.] was created somewhere the next year. These companies were subsequently taken over by [l97841] in 1927, following its acquisition of [l275192] in 1926, thus becoming a constituent part of [l293204] (EMI) when that company merged with [l253617] in 1931.

The label largely operated as a Jazz and Novelty label until manager, [a=George Martin], signed the [a=The Beatles] in 1962. As a result of its subsequent success and profile, the label was earmarked for phasing out in 1973 in favour of [l=EMI] (the label), however the parlophone imprint continued to be used by registered trademark owner [l=EMI Records Ltd.] and affiliated companies.

In September 2012 following the acquisition of [l1330982]'s US and Asian interests by [l=Universal Music Group], Parlophone and the former EMI Records Ltd. were merged as the [l806790] (PLG Holdco Ltd.) and spun off to be sold. 

They were sold to [l=Warner Music Group] in March 2013.
The Parlophone label is now owned by [l=Parlophone Records Ltd.], the re-named EMI Records Ltd., itself a subsidiary of [l=Warner Music International].

The Beatles were not part of the Parlophone Label Group and their catalogue was acquired by [l=Universal].

Jethro Tull played their first show at the Marquee Club London on 2nd February 1968. It was the first step of an epic musical journey as Jethro Tull rose to become one of the world’s most successful and influential progressive rock bands. Today, the group - led by founder Ian Anderson - is still on the road, electrifying audiences with a world tour commemorating its 50th anniversary. To help celebrate this historic achievement, Jethro Tull release a career-spanning three-disc set that features 50 songs – chosen by Anderson – from all 21 of the band’s studio albums. 50 For 50 provides a sweeping overview of Jethro Tull’s rich and diverse catalogue, which includes numerous platinum and gold records. Arranged chronologically, the three-disc set highlights the band’s continuous musical evolution with blues-influenced early tracks (Beggar’s Farm and A New Day Yesterday); heavy rockers (Aqualung and Locomotive Breath); prog classics (Skating Away and Critique Oblique); and folk tunes (Songs From The Wood and Heavy Horses.) The compilation also features Steel Monkey, Farm On The Freeway, and Budapest – three songs from the band’s Grammy-winning 1987 album Crest Of A Knave.
