June Tabor, born on 31 December 1947 in Warwick, England, is an English folk singer. She gained recognition in 1976 with the release of her album 'Silly Sisters' alongside *Maddy Prior*. That same year, she also released her solo debut album 'Airs and Graces'. In collaboration with Maddy Prior again, they formed the duo known as *Silly Sisters*. Notably, June Tabor collaborated with the folk-rock band The Oyster Band for their album 'Freedom and Rain' in 1990. Her talent was acknowledged when she received the title of Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2004.

Since then, she’s been consistently revered, not just in folk music circles but many realms beyond. Once described by Elvis Costello as “The great voice of English folk music,” Tabor has not only amassed some 13 solo albums since 1976 but numerous notable collaborations –including with Steeleye Span’s Maddy Prior (as the Silly Sisters) and more recently, Oysterband (their 2011 ‘Ragged Kingdom’ is one of Topic Records’ biggest selling albums).‘Airs &amp; Graces’ introduced one of the all-time great British singers with a predominantly traditional collection of songs ranging from Child Ballads (“Bonny May”, “Young Waters” , “Waly Waly”) to the classic ballads (“Reyandine” and “The Plains of Waterloo”) and Eric Bogle’s monumental anti - war song “The Band Played Waltzing Matilda”.
