Their breakthrough came with the genre-defining "Blessed Are the Sick" in 1991, showcasing their complex rhythms and well-crafted lyrics from Sumerian and Lovecraftian realms.

Notably, Morbid Angel's album "Covenant" (1993) was the first death metal release on a major label.
