Capitol Records, founded in 1942 as Liberty Records, is a renowned music label based in Hollywood, California. With a rich history and impressive sales of 42 million records by 1946, Capitol quickly became one of the Big Six studios. In 1955, it was acquired by British company EMI for $8.5 million and later became part of the Universal Music Group's Worldwide division in 1979. The merger with Priority Records in 2001 further solidified Capitol's position in the industry.

EMI began releasing Capitol products in the UK, Europe, and Australasia from January 1956 onwards after licenses with other record companies expired. Sir James Paul McCartney CH MBE is a British singer, composer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist most famous for being a member of The Beatles. He is also a published poet, painter, philanthropist, animal rights activist, and multi-media executive/producer. McCartney has been recognised as the most successful and popular composer/songwriter/entertainer in the history of popular music.

After the Beatles disbanded, he debuted as a solo artist with the 1970 album "McCartney" and formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine. He resumed his solo career after Wings broke up in April 1981.

McCartney received appointment as Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1965 and was knighted for services to music in 1997. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame both as a member of The Beatles (1988) and as a solo artist (1999). In addition to his musical achievements, McCartney has had personal successes including marriage to Linda McCartney until her passing; fathering children Mary McCartney, Stella McCartney, James McCartney; marrying Heather Mills with whom they had daughter Beatrice Milly before separating; finally marrying Nancy Shevell.
