Paul Weller is a British rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was born on 25 May 1958 in Sheerwater, Surrey, England. Weller gained recognition as the leader of two bands: The Jam and The Style Council. As the frontman of The Jam, he influenced numerous English rockers during the punk era and played a central role in the Mod revival. In the 1980s, he formed The Style Council and explored his fascination with Motown, soul music, jazz-pop, and house music. Since launching his solo career in 1992, Weller has released critically acclaimed albums that have been both popular and influential.

Weller's songwriting is deeply rooted in English culture, which has made him more of a national star than an international one. His impact on British music is undeniable; contemporary bands like Ocean Colour Scene have cited him as an influence. Despite occasional criticism for his trad-rock sound, Weller has managed to stay vital within the second decade of his career.

Aside from his musical achievements, Weller has had personal milestones as well. He married Dee C. Lee in 1987 but divorced her in 1998. They have a daughter named Leah Weller together. Afterward, he became involved with Samantha Stocks until 2008 before marrying Hannah Andrews in September 2010.

Parlophone is an anglicization of the German [l=Parlophon] label, registered as a trademark in 1902 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of [b]Salon Kinematograph Co. GmbH[/b], later merged into [l=Carl Lindström A.-G.]. The first Parlophon records are pressed in 1910. 

By 1923, Parlophone proper appears in London administered by English Lindström branch known as [l311921],  Parlophon records were pressed in London and sold locally. By 1926 extended operations extended to press for export in Australia (#cat A) until the australian factory [l=Parlophone Co. Ltd.] was created somewhere the next year. These companies were subsequently taken over by [l97841] in 1927, following its acquisition of [l275192] in 1926, thus becoming a constituent part of [l293204] (EMI) when that company merged with [l253617] in 1931.

The label largely operated as a Jazz and Novelty label until manager, [a=George Martin], signed the [a=The Beatles] in 1962. As a result of its subsequent success and profile, the label was earmarked for phasing out in 1973 in favour of [l=EMI] (the label), however the parlophone imprint continued to be used by registered trademark owner [l=EMI Records Ltd.] and affiliated companies.

In September 2012 following the acquisition of [l1330982]'s US and Asian interests by [l=Universal Music Group], Parlophone and the former EMI Records Ltd. were merged as the [l806790] (PLG Holdco Ltd.) and spun off to be sold. 

They were sold to [l=Warner Music Group] in March 2013.
The Parlophone label is now owned by [l=Parlophone Records Ltd.], the re-named EMI Records Ltd., itself a subsidiary of [l=Warner Music International].

The Beatles were not part of the Parlophone Label Group and their catalogue was acquired by [l=Universal].

In October 2018, Paul Weller performed two extraordinary must-see concerts at The Royal Festival Hall with an orchestra. The second of these shows was recorded / filmed and now sees the light of day as a stand-out live album and DVD.Other Aspects, Live At The Royal Festival Hall features an eclectic 25 track career spanning set. As well as classics from Paul’s rich back catalogue, the bulk of the critically acclaimed performance features 11 songs from the gorgeous True Meanings – Paul’s roundly lauded, no. 2 album which was released last September. The track-listing also includes several tracks from Paul’s days in The Jam, including a radical re-working of Private Hell from their 1979 LP Setting Sons and a brilliantly realised version of Boy About Town. The Style Council get a welcome look-in too with Have You Ever Had It Blue and A Man Of Great Promise. Other firm solo favourites such as You Do Something To Me and Long Long Road fit seamlessly into the set. As well as the full concert, the DVD also features a behind-the-scenes mini-documentary with rehearsal footage and interviews.The shows were a resounding success with meticulous arrangements and superb sound, with Paul’s voice sounding richer and more assured than ever. Along with Paul’s usual touring band, the show featured the London Metropolitan Orchestra and, on the sublime Books, Paul was joined on-stage by Lucy Rose and three incredible musicians: Sheema Mukherjee, Kamalbir Nandra and Tofail Ahmed playing Sitar, Tanpura and Indian Violin.
