Propagandhi is a Canadian punk band that was founded in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, in 1989. They were one of the first bands to sign with Fat Wreck Chords. In 1997, singer/songwriter/bassist John K. Samson left the group to pursue other interests and eventually start another band called The Weakerthans. Despite this change, founding members Chris Hannah and Jord Samolesky continued to work on Propagandhi while also starting their own label called G7 Welcoming Committee.

The current lineup of Propagandhi consists of Chris Hannah on guitar and lead/backing vocals, Jord Samolesky on drums and backing vocals, Todd Kowalski on bass and lead/backing vocals, and Sulynn Hago on guitar and backing vocals.

Over the years, Propagandhi has had several former members including Scott Hopper (bass/backing vocals), Stinky Mike Braumeister (bass), John K. Samson (bass/lead/backing vocals), and David Guillas (guitar).

Fat Wreck Chords is a San Francisco based label owned by Fat Mike, the singer of the punk band NOFX, and Erin Burkett. With their label code LC 03679, they have established themselves as a prominent force in the music industry. Known for their diverse range of releases, Fat Wreck Chords has introduced several series including Live In A Dive, which features live recorded albums. They have also released series like Fat Club and *NOFX*, consisting of twelve 7-inch singles each. Recently, they launched *NOFX*, another series of twelve 7-inch singles that unfortunately faced delays due to the worldwide covid-19 pandemic. Alongside their impressive discography, Fat Wreck Chords operates its own webstore and pop-up shop called *l1440031*. This exclusive store opens only a few times a year and offers unique variants of the label's releases.

After 1993’s How To Clean Everything and 1996’s Less Talk, More Rock, Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes was Propagandhi’s third and penultimate album on Fat.It marked a transition period for the band. Not only was it their first record after the departure of bassist / vocalist John K. Sampson – who was replaced by Todd Kowalski – but it also saw the start in the shift towards the sound that has now come to define them. The result was an album that, despite singer Chris Hannah’s reservations, truly set the benchmark back then, and does so even more in its new sonic form.
