Influential British punk group from west and south London, active between 1976 and 1985. The Clash added catchy sloganistic socio-political lyrics to their brand of garage rock 'n' roll, exploring wider musical horizons than most of their contemporaries. They incorporated reggae, dub, rockabilly, hip hop, funk influences into their music and more.

The US saw the release of "Give 'Em Enough Rope" before their first album to coincide with the band's first transatlantic tour in early 1979. The band's debut LP "The Clash" was soon repackaged with an updated track list and the addition of a free 7" single. A year later they received worldwide acclaim with their classic double album "London Calling".

Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 (Performer), The Clash's classic line-up comprised Joe Strummer (vocals/guitar), Paul Simonon (bass), Mick Jones (guitar) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums).

The Clash were an English punk rock band that formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk. The band are as important to that scene as the Sex Pistols or The Ramones.  Along with punk, their music incorporated elements of reggae, dub, funk, and rockabilly topped with super hook lines and the necessary aggression. For most of their recording career The Clash consisted of Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky 'Topper' Headon (drums, percussion). Headon left the group in 1982, and internal friction led to Jones' departure the following year. The group continued with new members, but finally disbanded in early 1986. Joe Strummer died in 2002. The Clash was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. This documentary impresses with inside information and shows the rise and the fall - from huge success down to dismantling themselves. The DVD contains a host of previously unreleased material and interviews. Directed by Danny Garcia and co-produced by David Mungay (editor / writer: Rude Boy, A Bigger Splash) 'The Rise And The Fall Of The Clash' was filmed in 16:9 HD color and runs 90 minutes. How did it happen that at the top of their fame and success The Clash was able to self destruct? The film includes interviews with the likes of founding member Mick Jones, Pearl Harbor (ex-wife of Paul Simonon), David Mingay and Ray Jordan ( ex-Bodyguard The Clash).
