The O'Jays are a legendary American R&B group that originated as The Mascots in Canton, Ohio in 1958. Founded by gospel duo Eddie Levert and Walter Williams, the group also included William Powell, Bobby Massey, and Bill Isles. Their debut recording "Miracles" was released in 1961. The O'Jays caught the attention of Cleveland D.J. Eddie O'Jay, who offered them career advice and inspired their name change.
