Devin Townsend

Devin Townsend, born on May 5th 1972 in Vancouver, Canada, is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. He gained recognition at the age of 19 when he joined Steve Vai's band as the vocalist for the "Sex & Religion" album and subsequent world tour. Since then, Devin has embarked on various projects that showcase his diverse creativity. Notable among these are Strapping Young Lad (a speed/industrial metal band) and Devin Townsend/the Devin Townsend Band/Devin Townsend Project.

Under the name Devin Townsend, he released four studio albums (Ocean Machine Biomech, Infinity, Physicist, and Terria), one live album (Official Bootleg), and three side albums (Devlab, The Hummer, and Ziltoid The Omniscient). Later forming The Devin Townsend Band with a stable lineup of backing musicians, they released two albums (Accelerated Evolution and Synchestra).

In 2009-2011, Devin introduced a new band name - Devin Townsend Project - which marked the beginning of a four-album cycle consisting of Ki, Addicted!, Deconstruction,and Ghost. Following this phase with four more albums (Epicloud,Z2/Dark Matters,Sky Blue,and Transcendence), he announced in 2018 that he would be dropping the Devin Townsend Project band name.
