Doris Day was an American singer, actress, and dancer. Born on April 3, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, she had a successful career as a vocalist in the 1940s with Les Brown. In 1948, she ventured into acting and became known for her roles in movies. Throughout her career, Day balanced her movie career with singing and recorded mostly for the Columbia label. An animal lover at heart, after retiring from show business, she dedicated her life to animals by founding the Doris Day Animal Foundation. She passed away on May 13, 2019 in Carmel Valley, California at the age of 97.
