George Harrison was a British rock guitarist, singer-songwriter, and film producer. Born on February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England, he is best known as the lead guitarist of The Beatles. In addition to his musical talents, Harrison was also an admirer of Indian culture and mysticism. He introduced this interest to the other members of The Beatles and even traveled with them to Rishikesh, India in 1968 to study meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Throughout his life, Harrison embraced the Hare Krishna tradition and became a lifelong devotee.
In recognition of his contributions to music, George Harrison was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 as a performer. He was also honored by being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) along with The Beatles in 1965. Additionally, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously in 2009.
George Harrison had two marriages during his lifetime. He was married to Pattie Boyd from January 21, 1966 until their divorce in 1977. Afterward, he married Olivia Arias on September 2, 1978 until his death. Together with Olivia Harrison, he had one son named Dhani Harrison.
