Molly Drake

Molly Drake, born Mary Lloyd in 1915, was the mother of musician Nick Drake and actress Gabrielle Drake. She married Rodney Drake in 1937 and they lived together in Rangoon, Burma for fifteen years before moving between Burma and India due to disturbances during the forties. In 1952, the family settled in Tanworth-in-Arden, England. Molly's musical talents as a pianist and songwriter likely influenced Nick's own musical journey. She composed a suite of children's songs for her children. After Rodney's death in 1988, Molly moved to a smaller house in the village. She passed away in 1993 and is buried next to Nick and Rodney at St Mary Magdalene churchyard.
