Os Mutantes

Innovative pop trio from Brazil, Os Mutantes were the first to introduce psychedelic rock to their country. Linked with the Tropicália movement of the late 1960s, they made a notorious breakthrough with their original line-up (Rita Lee, Arnaldo Baptista and Sérgio Dias). Despite numerous personnel changes, they continued to perform and record with influential artists like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. However, their success was threatened by the military government of Brazil at that time.

Os Mutantes ("The Mutants") are an influential Brazilian psychedelic rock band that were linked with the Tropicália movement of the late 1960s. Although the original line-up made the most notorious breakthrough for the group, it has gone through numerous personnel changes throughout its existence. They performed and recorded with many artists of this period before some were arrested and exiled by the military government of Brazil in early 1969.

During this period, Os Mutantes was also threatened by the military government of Brazil of that time.
