Raye

Raye, an American vaudevillian and songwriter, began his career as a dancer and won the "Virginia State Dancing Championship." He later transitioned to vaudeville as a "song and dance man," where he wrote his own songs. In 1935, Raye started collaborating with various composers, including Gene DePaul, Hughie Prince, Patricia Johnston, Harry James, Freddie Slack, Artie Shaw, Charlie Shavers, and Benny Carter. His talent led him to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985.
