Spirit Was

Spirit was an American rock band founded in 1967 and based in Los Angeles, California. They gained commercial success with their hit single "I Got a Line on You" and released several acclaimed albums including their self-titled debut album, The Family That Plays Together, Clear, and Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus.

The original lineup consisted of Randy California on guitar and vocals, Ed Cassidy on drums, John Locke on keyboards, Mark Andes on bass, and Jay Ferguson on vocals and percussion. Their unique sound blended elements of rock, psychedelic music, and folk influences.

Despite various lineup changes over the years, Spirit continued to create music until 1997. Tragically, both Randy California and Ed Cassidy passed away in subsequent years. However, their legacy lives on through their influential contributions to the rock music scene.
