Teena Marie

Teena Marie, also known as "Lady Tee" and the "Ivory Queen of Soul," was an American R&B/Soul singer, songwriter, and producer. Born on March 5, 1956 in Santa Monica, California, she made a significant impact on the music industry until her untimely death on December 26, 2010 at the age of 54.

Teena Marie rose to fame during the late 1970s and early 1980s with her work on the Motown label. Her crossover hit "Lovergirl" in 1984 solidified her status as a prominent artist. Throughout her career, she collaborated with notable performers such as Rick James, Howard Hewett, George Duke, and Faith Evans.

In addition to her own successful releases, Teena Marie contributed songs to popular soundtracks including "The Goonies," "Top Gun," and "Tap." She even lent her soulful vocals to Danny Tenaglia's album "Tourism" in 1998 for the track titled "Baby Do You Feel Me?"
