The Shirelles

The Shirelles were an American girl group formed in New Jersey in 1958. They were the first major female vocal group of the rock and roll era, and the first to have a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The quartet consisted of Shirley Alston Reeves, Doris Kenner Jackson, Beverly Lee, and Addie "Micki" Harris.

With their string of hits including "Baby It's You", "Mama Said", "Foolish Little Girl", and chart-topping songs like "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "Soldier Boy", The Shirelles paved the way for other crossover acts with white audiences before Motown took over. Their soulful harmonies captivated listeners across genres.
