Swedish pop group ABBA, founded in 1972, became famous when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. It started a decade of almost uninterrupted string of hits and major selling albums.
After the group stopped releasing new material in 1982 there was a relative lull in their popularity – which came to an end in 1992 when their compilation album was released. The compilation has become one of the world's most best-selling albums of all time.
In 1999, a musical based on ABBA hits called 'Mamma Mia!' opened in London. With various international productions, it is one of the most popular musicals of all time.
ABBA were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, as performers. They recently released a new album in November 2021 and live shows with ABBA appearing as virtual 'abbatars' started in London in May 2022.

The Visitors was, for many years, the “final” studio album by the Swedish superstars, until their unforgettable reunion that led to the release of Voyage in 2021. It was originally released on 30 November 1981. With their eight album&nbsp;The Visitors, ABBA took several steps away from the "lighter" pop music they had recorded previously and the album is often regarded as a more complex and mature effort.

The much-admired album was the sound of a group coming to terms with their marital splits and the prospect of what life would be after the end of their incredible time together. The first single, and ABBA’s last major worldwide hit, was “One Of Us,” with lead vocals by Agnetha Fältskog, featuring a narrative about a woman wishing she could patch up a dead relationship. The closing “Like An Angel Passing Through My Room” featured only Anni-Frid Lyngstad’s solitary vocal musings and a bare synthesizer arrangement.
