Agalloch was a highly influential band formed in 1996 in Portland, Oregon. They were known for their unique blend of gothic doom, black metal, neofolk, post rock, and industrial/ambient soundscapes. With five full-length albums and numerous other recordings under their belt, Agalloch left an indelible mark on the music scene.

After two decades of creating music and touring the world, the band members - John Haughm (vocals/guitars), Don Anderson (guitars), Jason Walton (bass), and Aesop Dekker (drums) - decided to part ways in 2016. The name Agalloch was laid to rest permanently as they embarked on separate musical journeys.

However, fans were thrilled when news broke that Agalloch would reunite for a special show at the Prophecy Fest festival in Balve, Germany in September 2023. This reunion will feature the original line-up that captivated audiences with their atmospheric compositions.

Although Pale Folklore stands as Agalloch's debut record, it already embodies several elements that later became part of the band`s signature sound. Effortlessly picking up from their excellent demo cassette, it sees the band refining their sound even further. An audio amalgamation combining the profoundness of early Ulver, with the gloom of old Katatonia and exalted boldness of Fields of the Nephilim, thus adding unique elements of nostalgia and atmosphere to their own melodic interplay of guitars and excellent musical framework. The album contains strong signs of a band that knew at a young age how to draw their canvas. Very Scandinavian in nature, and influenced by the American landscape of the Pacific Northwest, it firmly put Agalloch on the map and raised eyebrows about what a band from North America would be capable of.
