The influential 4AD label was started in 1980 by music enthusiasts Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent with financial help from Beggars Banquet, whose record store chain the pair worked for. Originally called Axis, they released an initial series of four 7" singles before finding out that the name Axis was already being used by another label. They quickly came up with a new name, 4AD, inspired by typography on a flyer announcing their releases. Under Ivo Watts-Russell's guidance, drawing influence from other UK indie labels such as Beggars Banquet, Postcard Records and Factory, 4AD quickly established a unique identity thanks to both the cover designs of Vaughan Oliver/v23 and the label's unique numbering system.

In 1992, 4AD entered a highly publicized Stateside distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records, opening offices in New York headed up by Robin Hurley. The label was largely run from California for most of the decade after Ivo Watts-Russell moved to Los Angeles in the mid-90s. In November 1999 it was announced that Martin Mills had taken over as chairman and relocated its HQ to London.

Hard-edged pop band Belly was founded in 1991 by former Throwing Muses member Tanya Donelly, along with Fred Abong and brothers Chris and Tom Gorman. With their strong initial success in the UK and US indie/alternative scenes, they earned two Grammy nominations in the early 1990s. Despite lineup changes, including Gail Greenwood replacing Abong on bass, Belly continued to gain popularity through tours. However, their second album King didn't receive the same acclaim as their debut Star. In 1996, Donelly disbanded Belly and embarked on a solo career.

In February 2016, Belly announced their reunion for live shows and plans to record new material. Through a PledgeMusic campaign, they released their third album Dove on May 3rd, 2018. With influences ranging from French Montana to Snoop Dogg, Belly's music offers a unique blend of pop and alternative sounds that captivate audiences worldwide.

The 1993 classic album reissued on limited Gatefold Double White Marbled vinyl with CD Version. Following her inestimable contributions as a founding member of both Throwing Muses and The Breeders, Tanya Donelly took centre stage to form Belly with brothers Tom and Chris Gorman on guitars and drums respectively and Fred Abong on bass. Around the release of their debut album 'Star' in 1993, Fred left the band and was replaced by Gail Greenwood. Among a wave of essential new American guitar acts in the early-90s, it was Belly's spikey dreampop that helped set them apart. Catching fire with singles 'Feed The Tree' and 'Gepetto', 'Star' saw them grab their moment and catapulted them in to the mainstream, selling almost two million copies worldwide and earning them two Grammy nominations. A second album followed in 1995, 'King', before they called it quits a year later. Coming with updated artwork from Chris Gorman and package design from Chris Bigg, the new version is now spread across two LPs, pressed on white marbled vinyl and presented in a gatefold sleeve. It also includes a bonus CD of the album.
