an album full of hectic anxiety from opener 'zoo-music girl' with nick cave in a catatonic dialogue with himself and accompanied by a jarring guitar and an inappropriately enthusiastic trumpet to the collapsing meaning of the unnaturally deep voice-monologue in 'capers' and the climactic 'nick the stripper' where all of cave's bizarre voices (whispering, talk-singing, screaming) blend perfectly with the bass line and guitar noises. an immense album.
