Bud Powell was an American jazz bop composer and pianist. Born on September 27, 1924 in Harlem, New York City, he became a prominent figure in the jazz scene. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 41 on July 31, 1966 due to pneumonia in New York City. Bud Powell was known for his exceptional talent on the piano and his contributions to the development of bebop music.

Throughout his career, Bud Powell collaborated with various artists who shared his passion for jazz. Some of these notable performers include Wynton Kelly, Kenny Dorham, Kenny Drew, Red Garland, and many more. His unique style and virtuosity influenced generations of musicians.

As a bonus, this CD also includes a complete 1951 piano solo session featuring two of the Powell's best-known compositions: "Hallucinations" (issued as "Budo" on Miles Davis' nonet album 'Birth of The Cool' and 'Parisian Thoroughfare'.
