Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

A Heavy Metal band from Kolbotn, Norway, formed in 1987 (initially founded as Black Death in 1986).
Darkthrone started as a death metal group, but having released ‘Soulside Journey’ they decided to abandon the technical death metal style and transformed into a black metal band. The band’s sound has diversified over their career to include elements of traditional heavy metal, thrash, doom, death and speed metal, as well as crust punk. They have not played live since 1991 and since 1993 Darkthrone has been a duo consisting of Fenriz (Gylve Nagell) and Nocturno Culto (Ted Skjellum).

'The Wind of 666 Black Hearts' - Pre-album recordings from 1991 & 1992, during Darkthrone's most essential and iconic transitional period towards black metal infamy 'The Wind of 666 Black Hearts' sees a return to the early days of the highly influential Norwegian black metal legends, featuring tracks from rehearsals conducted in 1991 & 1992, as the band forged their way to black metal notoriety with a vast transformation in style between their early death metal offerings to a stripped down, completely raw, cold and chaotic sound which was set to take the world of extreme metal to new depths. Contained on this CD release are tracks which would go on to feature on the classic 'A Blaze in the Northern Sky' & 'Under a Funeral Moon' albums. The 'A Blaze?' rehearsal features the line-up of Nocturno Culto, Fenriz, Zephyrous & Dag Nilsen, whereas the 'Under a Funeral Moon' rehearsal tracks saw Darkthrone narrowed to a 3-piece act, with Nocturno moving to bass & Zephyrous handling all guitars. The recordings are taken from the band's rehearsal place in Vinterbro, located directly south of Gjersj?en lake that separates Vinterbro from Kolbotn. 'The Wind of 666 Black Hearts' is presented as a CD in a jewel case packaging, with a 16-page booklet including rare photos, plus new notes from Fenriz, plus lyrics. Darkthrone are currently promoting the release of the new studio album 'Arctic Thunder'.
