Ennio Morricone was an Italian composer known for his fusion of classical and popular music. Born in Rome in 1928, he developed a diverse musical personality, embracing both serialism and experimental improvisation. He gained recognition through collaborations with renowned directors such as Sergio Leone and Quentin Tarantino. In addition to his iconic film scores, Morricone's non-film works have been widely performed and showcase his unique compositional techniques. His numerous accolades include an Academy Award, Grammy, and Leone d'oro.
Morricone's career began with minor cinematic collaborations but skyrocketed with Sergio Leone's Westerns. He went on to work with esteemed directors like Giuseppe Tornatore, Brian De Palma, Roland Joffé, and Pedro Almodóvar. With over 400 film scores to his name, Morricone masterfully blended classical and popular idioms.
In addition to his film compositions, Morricone created non-film works that showcased his technique of 'micro-cells'. These pieces often incorporated modal and tonal allusions while maintaining a pseudo-serial approach. His innovative use of composition materials extended beyond the realm of cinema.

Italian progressive rock label Vinyl Magic was established in 1989 by the Vinyl Magic Record Shop in Milan, Italy. Led by *Massimo Buffa*, an aficionado of Italian prog, the label specializes in reissuing rare Italian music from the 1970s. In addition to these reissues, Vinyl Magic has also released albums by new Italian acts and international bands. After the original partnership ceased in 1998, the label was rebranded as VM 2000 in 1999. Although later releases maintained the same catalog numbering, they should now be listed with BTF.it as their label.

For fans of progressive rock and collectors of rare vinyl, Vinyl Magic is a treasure trove of musical gems. With a focus on rediscovering and preserving classic Italian prog from the '70s, this label brings forgotten masterpieces back to life for a new generation to enjoy. The romantic side of Maestro Morricone contrasts the dramatic side of Thriller and Crime genre where dissonances always dominate. For Tie Me Up! (1989) Morricone composed a delicate love theme for his one and only collaboration with the great Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar. For For Love (1976) he created a motif for piano and orchestra as a back- ground to a love triangle.

The first sexual experiences of a teenager with older women at the end of the war in Disobedience (1981) are accompanied by piano, strings and oboe. "Desperate love theme” from Making Love (2000) is a very nostalgic classic tune for violin and orchestra. “Per le antica scale (Preludio)” from&nbsp;Down the Ancient Stairs (1975) is a captivating, slow and sensual, love tune for piano and orchestra with a predominant flute solo&nbsp;“Beata and Joe” from The Star Maker (1995) a sentimental theme for the two protagonists performed by an orchestra with the intervention of a classical guitar in the second part.

The crystal voice of soprano Edda Dell’Orso appears very frequently in Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks as in the case of The Good Thief&nbsp;(1980),&nbsp;The Master And Margarita (1972), What Have You Done To Solange? (1972), Orient Express (1979).
