Rer Megacorp

ReR Megacorp (often denoted as ЯēR) is a music label based in England, founded by Chris Cutler in 1978. Originally known as Rē Records, the label was established to introduce UK audiences to exceptional but unknown artists and groups from around the world. The focus has always been on the quality of the music rather than commercial viability. Over time, ReR Megacorp formed distribution networks and affiliated with other labels such as Points East, These Records, No Man's Land, AYAA, Cuneiform Records, and Gross National Products. While each label operates independently, they share a common musical ethic and provide outstanding music for both listeners and musicians.

In the early '80s, ReR Megacorp opened a recommended shop which later separated from the labels and became These Records. In the early '90s, Chris Cutler merged all his labels under ReR Megacorp and established a new distribution service with the same name. These Records continued until 2006 when it closed its doors.

The address history of ReR Megacorp includes locations in London such as St. Saviour's Road (1988-1993), Tulse Hill (1993-1994), and Beulah Road in Thornton Heath since autumn 1994. Distribution was initially done through Recommended Distribution at Wandsworth Road before moving to Sutton during summer 1991 until spring 1994.

Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser Fred Frith has been making noise of one kind or another for almost 50 years, starting with the iconic rock collective Henry Cow, which he co-founded with Tim Hodgkinson in 1968.He is best known as a pioneering electric guitarist and improviser, song-writer, and composer for film, dance and theatre. Through bands like Art Bears, Massacre, Skeleton Crew, Keep the Dog, the Fred Frith Guitar Quartet and Cosa Brava, he has stayed close to his roots in rock and folk music while branching out in many other directions. He is currently performing with the Fred Frith Trio and Frelosa. The recipient of Italy's Demetrio Stratos Prize for his life's work in experimental music and an honorary doctorate from the University of Huddersfield in his home county of Yorkshire, Fred is Professor Emeritus at the legendary epicentre of American experimental music, Mills College in Oakland, California. He still teaches in the improvisation master's program at the Musik Akademie in Basel, Switzerland and as visiting faculty in the Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile, where he has been collaborating on the creation of a new School of Music and Sound Art. Fred is the subject of Nicolas Humbert and Werner Penzel's much loved Step Across the Border, cited by Cahiers du Cinéma as 'one of the 20th century's hundred most influential films'.
