Invada Records was formed in 2002 by Geoff Barrow, Ashley Anderson, and Redg Weeks. Geoff and Ashley have been collaborating since 1998 and decided to establish the label together. In 2003, Geoff started Invada Records UK, focusing on developing a roster of artists from the UK that would also be released in Australia. As the label continues to grow, Invada is expanding its distribution network worldwide.

Hannah Peel is an Irish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger based in London, England. With her diverse musical talents, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the music industry.

Peel's unique sound draws inspiration from various genres and artists such as *Jane Weaver*, *Rozi Plain*, *The Unthanks*, and *The Magnetic North*. Her compositions are known for their intricate arrangements and captivating melodies.

Collaborating with renowned performers like *Manchester Collective*, *Gwenno*, and the *Ligeti Quartet*, Peel has showcased her versatility as an artist. She has also worked alongside talented musicians including *Anna Meredith* and *James Holden* to create mesmerizing pieces of music.

Now available on LP after being released digitally last year on Invada Records. The Midwich Cuckoos is based on the 1957 science fiction novel by John Wyndham, and tells the story of an English village where the women become mysteriously pregnant.

Hannah Peel‘s score is described as a unique and intricately produced soundscape, working in harmony with the sound design of Sky’s adaptation. 

With analogue synthesisers recreating the horror of the ‘Hive Mind’, tape manipulations, drones, woodwind and melodies echoing the song of the cuckoo bird, Peel creates a score that perfectly balances the organic instrumentations and melodies, juxtaposed with an increasingly dark electronic ‘invasion’. 

Peel explains, “Creating the score was a constant endeavour to find the balance between darkness and light, fear and beauty. It was a very fine and intricate equilibrium between the normal sunlit logical world as we know it, and a subversive unfamiliar musical language.”
