Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band formed in 1984. They are known for their unique blend of thrash metal, power metal, progressive metal, opera, speed metal, and new wave influences. The band was originally founded by rhythm guitarist and songwriter Jon Schaffer under the name Purgatory. However, due to another group already using the name, they had to change it to Iced Earth as a tribute to a close friend who passed away in a motorcycle accident.

Throughout their career, Iced Earth has seen various lineup changes with talented musicians joining and departing the band. Notable members include vocalists *Gene Adam*, *John Greely*, *Tim Owens*, *Matthew Barlow*, and *Stu Block*. On guitar, we have the constant presence of Jon Schaffer along with guitarists such as *Bill Owen*, *Randall Shawver*, *Larry Tarnowski*, and more. Bassists like *Richard Bateman*, *Dave Abell*, and others have contributed their skills while drummers such as *Greg Seymour* and current member Brent Smedley have provided powerful beats. Additionally, keyboardists like Rick Risberg and Howard Helm have added atmospheric elements to their sound.

Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". Held on one Saturday every April and every Black Friday in November, the day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world.

Iced Earth is excited to be doing their first ever Record Store Day 2023 campaign. The exclusive Plagues of Dystopia 12 inch Picture Disc EP features updated artwork of the legendary Plagues of Babylon (2014) and Dystopia (2011) covers by line artist David Newman-Stump and colors by Roy Young. Also, exclusive to Side A of this EP, are 2 tracks reworked in the ultra-creepy narrative soundscape treatment of the songs “Plagues of Babylon" and “Democide”. Side B features a previously unreleased version of the song “V” from the Bang Your Head live album the boys recorded in 2016. Mixed and mastered by Jim Morris. The result in a stunning visual and audio experience for all die hard Iced Earth fans and collectors.
