Kaleidoscope (originally The Kaleidoscope) was an American psychedelic folk and ethnic band formed in Los Angeles, USA. Active from 1966 to 1969, they recorded 4 albums and several singles for Epic Records. The band consisted of various members throughout their existence, including *David Lindley*, *Solomon Feldthouse*, *Chris Darrow*, *Chester Crill*, *John Vidican*, *Stuart Brotman*, *Paul Lagos*, *Jeff Kaplan* and *Ron Johnston*. Known for their unique blend of folk and ethnic influences, Kaleidoscope's music continues to captivate audiences today.

With a sound that incorporated elements of traditional folk music along with diverse world music styles, Kaleidoscope created a truly distinctive musical experience. Their fusion of psychedelic rock with global sounds set them apart from other bands of the era. Songs like "Egyptian Gardens" and "Beacon from Mars" showcased their innovative approach to songwriting and instrumentation.

Now widely considered to have been one of the finest groups to emerge from the british psychedelic pop scene, Kaleidoscope signed to the fontana label in the epochal year of 1967. Over the next couple of years, they issued two magnificent albums, Tangerine Dream and Faintly Blowing, as well as a quintet of vibrant, inventive, highly commercial singles. Somehow, though, they failed to achieve the glittering prizes that everyone predicted would be theirs. Frustrated by their lack of success, and with a heavier musical climate taking hold, they ended the decade with a change of name to Fairfield Parlour and a new deal with progressive rock label Vertigo.
