ECM Records, also known as "The Creative Label," is a German independent label that was co-founded by producer Manfred Eicher, Manfred Scheffner, and Karl Egger in Munich (Pasing) in 1969. With the label code LC 2516 / LC 02516, ECM stands for Edition of Contemporary Music and focuses on jazz and Western classical music. They showcase both acoustic and electronic artists who produce eclectic versions of contemporary music.

ECM's extensive catalog features a wide range of genres, from contemporary works by renowned composers like Steve Reich, Arvo Pärt, and Philip Glass to experimental and electronic jazz from artists such as Nils Petter Molvær, Pat Metheny Group, and Jan Garbarek. American jazz pianist and composer, Keith Jarrett was born on May 8, 1945 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He began playing the piano at the age of three and continued until 2018 when he suffered two strokes that left him partially paralyzed.

The second complete show to be issued from Keith Jarrett's 2016 European tour - following on from the widely-acclaimed concert released as Munich 2016 - this double album documents the pianist's solo performance at the Bela Bartok National Concert Hall in Budapest. Jarrett, whose family roots reach back to Hungary, viewed the Budapest concert as akin to a homecoming, and the context inspired much creative improvisation. Where Jarrett's early solo concerts shaped a large arc of music over the course of an evening, the later concerts have generated suite-like structures, comprised of independent "movements", each of them a marvel of spontaneous resourcefulness. Creative energy is applied also to familiar songs given as encores, It's A Lonesome Old Town and Answer Me, transformed in the Budapest concert.
