Kenny Lynch (born 18 March 1938, Stepney, London, England, died 18 December 2019) was an English singer, songwriter, entertainer, actor and publisher, see [l377070]. During the 1960s he scored two UK Top 10 Singles (Up On The Roof & You Can Never Stop Me Loving You) and another 7 UK Top 40 Singles.

Satril Records was a UK label and subsidiary of [l181348].  Satril started out as a management agency in 1969, and issued its first batch of records in 1972-73. 
Eleven singles were released, in a SAT-0 numerical series.  An early duck-egg blue label was replaced by a yellow one, with red printing, in the same design, when SAT-9 came out.  There appears to have been a lull after this; but in June 1974 [l181348] signed a five-year licensing deal with [l265429].  The agreement stated that for the first year Henry Hadaway's records would be released on Pye but that the Satril label would then be reintroduced if required.  Satril did indeed make a comeback, with a new label design and a new numbering system (SAT-100).  When the licensing deal expired, towards the end of 1977, Satril switched to [l40396] for distribution.  The catalogue numbering was unchanged and the label design remained fundamentally the same; the Pye logo at the bottom disappeared and the Warner Communications logo appeared at around the two o'clock mark, and a company branded sleeve came into use.  In general the fare on offer seems to have been a mixture of Pop and Disco music.

"Kenny Lynch was a popular singer, songwriter, actor and all-round entertainer. A self-styled “black cockney”, Kenny was one of the few people of Caribbean origin prominent in the British entertainment industry during the 60s and 70s. 

During his musical career, Kenny released a number of Top 10 singles, including a version of Up on the Roof (1962), competing with the original by the Drifters. He composed and co-wrote songs recorded by Dusty Springfield, Cilla Black, the Drifters and the Everly Brothers. He also worked briefly as a songwriter at the Brill Building in New York.

Whilst probably best known as a prolific Pop Crooner during the earlier part of his acting and musical career, we must not forget his stomping disco success of the early eighties, released under British-borne Satril Records. “Half The Day’s Gone, and We Haven’t Earne’d a Penny” was a milestone moment for British Disco. Produced by Kenny himself at Satril Studios, London 1983, this record still encompasses that organic late-70s disco sound, with true instrumentation and minimalist electronic synth elements. 

This is the album’s first ever re-press since 1983 and has been remastered in high-definition from the original analogue tapes. Pressed on heavyweight trans-colour vinyl, this is one not to be missed. =
