Kurt Cobain was an American musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Nirvana. Born on February 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington, USA, he tragically died by suicide on April 5, 1994 in Seattle. Kurt was married to Courtney Love from February 24, 1992 until his death and they have a daughter named Frances Cobain.

Before his success with Nirvana, Kurt worked as a joiner and played in several other bands including Brown Towel (mislabeled as "Brown Cow") and The Sellouts. In Brown Towel, Kurt provided vocals alongside Buzz Osborne on guitar and Dale Crover on drums. The trio gained attention for their energetic performances where Kurt would recite poetry over improvised music.

In addition to his musical pursuits with Nirvana and other bands like The Sellouts and an untitled short-lived band/session in 1986 featuring Krist Novoselic and Robert McFadden, Kurt's legacy lives on through his influential songwriting. His unique sound continues to inspire artists such as Mudhoney, Hole, Green River, Sonic Youth,and many others.
