Leonard Bernstein was an American composer, conductor, pianist, author, and music lecturer. He is best known for his time as music director with a renowned orchestra and for his iconic works such as "West Side Story" and "On The Town". In 1971, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. On September 10, 1951, he married actress Felicia Montealegre and they had three children together.
Born on August 25, 1918 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, United States; Leonard Bernstein passed away on October 14, 1990 at The Dakota in New York City.

Deutsche Grammophon, also known as Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, has been the leading classical music label of German record company Deutsche Grammophon GmbH since 1949. Before that, the label Grammophon was used until 1943, along with the Nipper dog. From 1942-1948, the Siemens Spezial label was used. The branding "Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft" was used until 1970. In 1957, the "cartouche" design featuring a garland of tulips was introduced. Known for its high-quality recordings and extensive catalog, Deutsche Grammophon has released music from renowned artists and performers in various series such as *Deutsche Grammophon Debut*, *AvantGarde*, *Deutsche Grammophon Resonance*, *Collectors Edition*, and *Festival Of Hits*. Leonard Bernstein understood and communicated the music of Gustav Mahler at a level that was positively uncanny, and for many listeners and reviewers his Mahler Cycle on Deutsche Grammophon from the late 1980s remains the best-loved. Bernstein’s reading of the 2nd Symphony from this cycle is now be released on vinyl (2 LP gatefold). The recording was made in New York’s Avery Fisher Hall in April 1987, with the New York Philharmonic, the Westminster Choir, and soloists Barbara Hendricks and Christa Ludwig. “Leonard Bernstein's interpretation of Mahler's ''Resurrection'' Symphony is one of the musical touchstones of our time, a reference point even for those who might not agree with its intensely personal view."
