Loudon Snowden Wainwright III is an American songwriter, folk singer, humorist and actor. Born on September 5, 1946 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, he has established himself as a versatile artist with a unique blend of wit and introspection.

Throughout his career, Loudon Wainwright III has captivated audiences with his heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies. He has been married to Canadian singer-songwriter Kate McGarrigle and together they have two children - Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright. Additionally, he has a daughter named Lucy Roche from his relationship with the singer Suzzy Roche.

Hailing from a musical family, Loudon is the son of esteemed Life magazine columnist Loudon Wainwright Jr., and the brother of acclaimed musicians Sloan Wainwright and Martha Wainwright. His upbringing undoubtedly influenced his passion for music.
