Lowlife is a Scottish band that emerged from the remnants of a Psychobilly group called Dead Neighbours. Originally consisting of Craig Lorentson (Vocals), David Steel (Bass), Ronnie Buchanan (Guitar), and Grant McDowall (Drums), the band underwent several lineup changes over the years. After their first mini LP, David Steel departed and was replaced by Will Heggie, who had recently left Cocteau Twins. With Heggie on board, Dead Neighbours recorded their album "Strangedays Strangeways." Eventually, Ronnie Buchanan left and Stuart Everest took his place, prompting a change in both musical direction and band name.

Thus, Lowlife was born, taking inspiration from a Public Image Limited song. Despite these shifts in personnel and style, Lowlife maintained their distinctive sound characterized by atmospheric post-punk and ethereal melodies. Tragically, Craig Lorentson passed away on June 4th, 2010.

LTM Recordings, originally known as Les Temps Modernes, was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by James Nice. The label's early releases showcased the talents of Section 25, The Happy Family, and Crispy Ambulance. After relocating to Brussels for four years in 1987, Nice also worked for Les Disques du Crepuscule and later PIAS. LTM was reactivated in 1997 with a focus on CD reissues from the bankrupt Factory Records and its European counterpart Les Disques du Crépuscule. Over time, the label expanded its scope to include new wave, electronic, and post-punk artists along with new recordings and DVDs.

In 2008, LTM launched the compilation series Auteur Labels featuring volumes dedicated to New Hormones, Crepuscule, Factory Records, Factory Benelux, Independent Project, and Object Music. Additionally, LTM has shown an interest in experimental artists from the 20th century such as Erik Satie, Wyndham Lewis,
Marcel Duchamp,
and William S. Burroughs. They have published audio works by these artists alongside compilations representing Futurist,
Dada,
Surrealist,
Bauhaus,
and De Stijl movements. Notably,the Boutique Label operates as a sub-division of LTM.

LTM presents a newly remastered 2022 edition of Diminuendo, the second album by cult Scottish cold wave band Lowlife, who released a string of acclaimed albums between 1985 and 1995. Lowlife were formed in Grangemouth in 1985 when original Cocteau Twins bassist Will Heggie joined forces with former Dead Neighbours members Craig Lorentsen, Grant McDowell and Stuart Everest. Their morose, gothic dreampop and immaculate angst would often be compared to Joy Division, Bauhaus Comsat Angels and – yes - the Cocteau Twins, yet the band received widespread acclaim over the course of six albums released through indie label Nightshift: Rain (1985), Permanent Sleep (1986), Diminuendo (1987), Godhead (1989), The Black Sessions (1988), San Antorium (1991) and Gush(1995). Newly remastered by Peter Beckmann at TechnologyWorks in 2022, Diminuendo + Singles combines all 9 tracks from the original 1987 album with 7 bonus tracks taken from non-album singles and EPs Hollow Gut, Vain Delights and Swirl It Swings. 74 minutes of music, with liner notes by journalist and former manager Brian Guthrie as well as photos and ephemera.
