Lush is a shoegaze band from London, UK. Formed in 1987, the band was led by guitarists Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson. Tragically, drummer Chris Acland's untimely death in October 1996 marked the end of Lush.
However, in September of 2015, Lush made a triumphant return to the music scene with the addition of former Elastica drummer Justin Welch. Their reformation brought back their unique sound and captivating performances that fans had been longing for.

The influential 4AD label was started in 1980 by music enthusiasts Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent with financial help from Beggars Banquet, whose record store chain the pair worked for. Originally called Axis, they released an initial series of four 7" singles before finding out that the name Axis was already being used by another label. They quickly came up with a new name, 4AD, inspired by typography on a flyer announcing their releases. Under Ivo Watts-Russell's guidance, drawing influence from other UK indie labels such as Beggars Banquet, Postcard Records and Factory, 4AD quickly established a unique identity thanks to both the cover designs of Vaughan Oliver/v23 and the label's unique numbering system.

In 1992, 4AD entered a highly publicized Stateside distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records, opening offices in New York headed up by Robin Hurley. The label was largely run from California for most of the decade after Ivo Watts-Russell moved to Los Angeles in the mid-90s. In November 1999 it was announced that Martin Mills had taken over as chairman and relocated its HQ to London.

Originally Released June 13 1994.&nbsp; Featuring the singles “Desire Lines” and “Hypocrite,”&nbsp;Split&nbsp;is the second full studio album by Lush. Produced by Mike Hedges - famed for his work on The Cure’s&nbsp;Seventeen Seconds and&nbsp;Siouxsie and the Banshees’s&nbsp;A Kiss in the Dreamhouse&nbsp;– and mixed by Alan Moulder,&nbsp;Split&nbsp;sees the band hit a more direct sound whilst retaining their almost pitch-black feel.

With demand high, the band have been working with renowned engineer / producer Kevin Vanbergen to help them remaster their catalogue, starting with their studio albums. Using the original ½” production tapes for source material, Kevin has painstakingly worked on them to create brand new, stunning 24-bit masters that perfectly capture the thrill of the originals. They’ve never sounded so good.

Famously working with 4AD’s inhouse designers v23 on every release, album art has always been central to Lush’s appeal too. For these represses, the first two albums will come housed in their original designs while&nbsp;Lovelife&nbsp;uses the art from their 2016 boxset so to keep 1996’s collectible tracing paper sleeve exclusive to that initial pressing.
