Marvin Gaye was an American singer-songwriter and musician with a three-octave vocal range. He was born on April 2, 1939 in Washington, D.C., USA and tragically died on April 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, California, USA when he was shot by his father Marvin Gay Sr.
Gaye started his career as a member of The Moonglows in the late fifties. After the group disbanded in 1960, he embarked on a successful solo career and signed with the Tamla subsidiary of Motown Records.
Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 as a performer, Marvin Gaye is remembered for his incredible talent and contributions to music. He is also known as the brother of Frankie Gaye and the father of Nona Gaye.

Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". Held on one Saturday every April and every Black Friday in November, the day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores around the world.

A fantastic floor filler with that unmistakable Tamla backbeat and a euphoric chorus. Backed with the ‘Here Comes The Judge’ hitmaker’s magnificent ‘Don’t Mess With My Weekend’ - which was only ever previously released by Motown in Australia in 1969. A funky ‘getting ready’ groove with Shorty’s expressive vocal to the fore and a telegraph guitar holding it all in place.
