Formidable Rhythm and Blues (also known as Rhythm And Blues Formidable) was a French series launched by Barclay in 1966. As a distributor for different labels such as Atlantic, Atco, Stax, and others, this label played a significant role in promoting the vibrant genre of rhythm and blues. Over the years, some of these remarkable compilations were reissued through WEA Filipacchi Music in their renowned series.

Mott The Hoople was a British rock band that was active from 1969 until 1974, with occasional reunions starting in 2009. The classic era of the band included members Ian Hunter on vocals and guitar, Mick Ralphs on guitar, Verden Allen on keyboards, Peter "Overend" Watts on bass, and Dale "Buffin" Griffin on drums.
After Ian Hunter left in 1974, two follow-on bands were formed: one from 1974 to 1976 and another from 1977 to 1980. During the period of 1974-76, releases without Hunter are credited to [a2999630]. Additionally, an unofficial or "fake" band recorded Mott The Hoople tracks around 1996/7 under [a6998971].
Mott The Hoople's music is often associated with artists such as Mick Ronson, Marc Bolan, Faces, Slade, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, T. Rex, Dr. Feelgood, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Humble Pie and more. With their influential sound and iconic lineup during their prime years of activity in the early '70s.

Highlights include rare-as-hens-teeth Like A Rolling Stone and When My Mind’s Gone. The versions of more familiar numbers are sourced from their original transmissions without the ubiquitous Brian Mathews’ voice-overs. Also included are a brace of tracks from Beat Club and a medley of Keep A-Knockin’ and What’d I Say recorded for Australian TV. Comes with full credits and extensive sleeve notes. Sound Quality Very Good except the Sunday Concert tracks which are of lesser quality but still totally listenable.
