prefuse 73 (aka scott herren) follows up 2005's 'surrounded by silence' with a brand new mini album: a masterclass in sliced-up break-dance noise rock. 'security screenings' continues the evolution of guillermo scott herren's prefuse alias into one of the most versatile and visionary post-hip-hop producers in the world. prefuse is a very prolific artist and this short album is a collection of intricate instrumental material that slayed fans in the first place. prefuse worked with ghostface, aesop rock, blonde redhead, el-p and battles tyondai braxton on his last release. whilst collaborations arent the main aim this time, he couldn't resist the delicious psychedelic beats that came together with kieran hebden (aka four tet) or backing the vocals of babatunde adebimpe of brooklyn space rock stars tv on the radio. inspired by the disillusioning experiences encountered whilst traveling to promote his last smash, 'security screenings' channeled his frustration and anger into something quite spectacular: whether chopping samples, destroying synthesizers or trading beats, security screenings is certainly another prefuse 73 sure shot.
