Roberta Flack is a renowned soul singer-songwriter born on February 10, 1937 in Black Mountain, North Carolina, USA. She is considered one of the best and most prestigious artists of the golden phase of soul music and has been a strong influence on artists like Erykah Badu. With an impressive career spanning since 1969, she has recorded 16 albums, both solo and in collaboration with other talented musicians.

Flack's soulful voice and powerful lyrics have captivated audiences worldwide. Her smash hit singles "Killing Me Softly," "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," and "Feel Like Makin' Love" are some of her most iconic songs that have left a lasting impact on the music industry.

This album marks the third instalment of the series of special reissues from the storied archives of the Atlantic Jazz archive and personally curated by DJ and Broadcaster Gilles Peterson.
