Slayer is a legendary thrash metal band that was formed in 1981 by Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman, Dave Lombardo, and Tom Araya. Hailing from Huntington Park, California, USA, the group's name is an acronym for "Satan Laughs As you Eternally Rot." Their debut album featured this acronym on its vinyl runout and it was also mentioned in the lyrics of their song "Live Undead."
