Directed by award-winning documentarian Stanley Nelson, the film features Miles’ music from live performances, studio recordings and outtakes, as well as interviews with those who knew Miles best, both personally and professionally, including music luminaries Quincy Jones, Carlos Santana, Clive Davis, Wayne Shorter, and Ron Carter. In making the film, Nelson had full access to the Miles Davis estate and to private archives of footage and still photos. This allows the documentary to extensively and intimately feature film footage and images never before seen by the public.
