Mute Records Ltd. was incorporated Nov. 1st, 1983 and is still an active company. The company emerged from the [l=Mute] label, that had been founded by [a=Daniel Miller] in 1978. Releases until about 1984 usually refer to [l=Mute Records] as the legal label owner.
Company branch offices existed in Germany ([l=Mute Tonträger]) and in North America ([l=Mute Corporation]). 

In 2002 the company was sold to the EMI Group Plc. In 2010 [a=Daniel Miller] reached an agreement with EMI to handle Mute as an independent label again. For this he licensed the [l=Mute] name from EMI.

In 2012, the Recorded music business's of the EMI Group were acquired by the Universal Music Group. In order to comply with international regulators, Universal divested itself of several divisions and sold former parent EMI Records Ltd., since renamed as [l=Parlophone Records Ltd.], to Warner Music Group in February 2013. In the same period Mute Holdco Ltd. was established for this divestment (of which Mute Records Ltd formed part of). On the 30th April 2013 Mute Holdco Ltd. was sold to [l408323] subsidiary, [l277055].

Ownership was transferred to BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited on 28 March 2019.

Supergrass is an English alternative rock band from Oxford. They were active from 1993-2010 and reformed in 2019 for live touring and a box set. The band was formed by Gaz, Mick, and Danny, with Gaz's older brother joining in 2002. During a brief hiatus in 2008, Danny and Gaz performed as a duo called The Hot Rats, while also playing as Diamond Hoo Ha Men. All members went on to have solo careers or collaborate with each other.
The band initially came together when two members of The Jennifers joined forces with Gaz after meeting at a pub where they all worked part-time. Supergrass gained popularity throughout the '90s and early 2000s with their unique sound that blended alternative rock with Britpop influences.
In addition to their successful albums like "I Should Coco" and "In It for the Money," Supergrass recorded an abandoned seventh album in 2009 that has never been released. Despite some internal conflicts, the band remains highly regarded for their energetic live performances and catchy songs.
